What To Expect

Day 1: Airport → Sigiriya / Dambulla

  • Morning/Afternoon: Meet and greet at Bandaranaike International Airport or your hotel. Begin the journey inland toward Sri Lanka’s renowned Cultural Triangle.
  • Late Afternoon: Explore the magnificent Dambulla Cave Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site filled with ancient murals and hundreds of Buddha statues. Afterward, enjoy an authentic Traditional Village Tour, experiencing local rural life, traditional cooking, and a scenic bullock cart or boat ride.
  • Overnight: Sigiriya or Dambulla

Day 2: Sigiriya → Kandy

  • Morning: Early departure to climb the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Scaling this 5th-century ancient palace early helps beat the midday heat and rewards you with stunning panoramic views of the surrounding jungle.

  • Afternoon: Travel south through the lush countryside toward the hill capital of Kandy.

  • Evening: Settle into the city and attend a vibrant Kandyan cultural show, featuring traditional drumming, acrobatic dancing, and fire-walking.

  • Overnight: Kandy

Day 3: Kandy → Ella

  • Morning: Pay a morning visit to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, an important Buddhist shrine and historical palace complex. From Kandy, drive to the uniquely designed Ambuluwawa Tower for a dizzying, 360-degree view of the surrounding mountains.

  • Afternoon: Ascend higher into the misty tea country. Take in the misty spray of Ramboda Falls, then stop at a working Tea Factory and Plantation to see how world-famous Ceylon tea is plucked, processed, and brewed.

  • Evening: Arrive in the backpacker haven of Ella to relax in the cool mountain climate.

  • Overnight: Ella

Day 4: Ella → Yala

  • Morning: Experience Ella’s best outdoor sights. Walk through the jungle to watch a train cross the colonial-era Nine Arches Bridge, followed by a scenic, moderate hike up Little Adam’s Peak for sweeping views of the Ella Gap.

  • Afternoon: Begin the descent from the hills to the southern dry zone, pausing at the roadside Ravana Falls.

  • Late Afternoon: Hop into a rugged 4×4 jeep for an exhilarating Evening Safari in Yala National Park. Keep your cameras ready for wild elephants, sloth bears, crocodiles, and the elusive Sri Lankan leopard.

  • Overnight: Yala

Day 5: Yala → Beach / Departure

  • Morning: Visit the heartwarming Udawalawe Elephant Transit Home. Watch from the viewing platform as orphaned elephant calves are bottle-fed by rangers before eventually being released back into the wild.

  • Afternoon: Conclude your tour with a smooth transfer to the airport for your onward flight, or get dropped off at your preferred South Coast beach hotel (such as Mirissa, Galle, or Bentota) to extend your stay.
